SOUTH AMERICAN PRESENTATION SWORD

URUGUAY 19th CENTURY

South american presentation sword of superior officer with shield of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay.

Circa 1860.

The handle is made of mercury gilded bronze and the mother-of-pearl scales (mother-of-pearl).

Of French design but of Spanish construction, the leaf etched in excellent condition and engraved in its central hollow FABRICA DE TOLEDO.

The scabbard is made of bronze or brass with its cast frames and mitomorphic engravings.

It has 2 fixing rings.

Small dent at the bottom of the sheath.

In the center of the bowl it has the shield of Uruguay and on its flanks two warriors with halberds.

Great quality of workmanship and in excellent condition.
