SCHIAVONA SWORD

ITALY HALF OF THE 17th CENTURY

Excellent example of this type of sword used from the Renaissance to the 18th century.

It has a bowl called basket with some engravings on the ends of the bows.

The handle is covered with a very fine wire, perhaps silver.

The shield-shaped pommel with a burin cross made of solid bronze.

The wide section blade (4 cm in the ricasso) has 2 central voids up to a quarter of its length, it has gunsmith punches with double star shapes.

Small bites in it. Its condition is very good, it keeps good general patina.

Total length 104 cm.
